Thais & Patrik’s intimate beach elopement in Captiva Island was a turn of events… but a beautiful one at that!
If you don’t know, Captiva Island is on the West coast of Florida and the sunsets on the West coast of any place can be pretty epic.
Being a Miami wedding photographer, I get to experience the opposite: all the epic sunrises, so this intimate elopement overlooking the sunset had me super excited for something fresh.
Unfortunately in Florida, the weather can change dramatically from one day to the next; from one hour to the next, even! The perfect sunset beach ceremony they had planned ended up getting rained on. BUT (there’s always a but), if there is one thing I tell every client I photograph is that you need to embrace the day you get and make it the best because you only get one!
And that’s exactly what these two lovebirds did.
They may have gotten a big blue and cloudy backdrop instead of the stunning sunset they hoped for but it was perfect in its own way. They were surrounded by the bride’s parents, shared their vow exchange with their friends and family throughout the world via live-streaming, and indulged in their favorite foods and Brazilian desserts. Oh and can I point out my favorite part? Dolphins swimming nearby were the most amazing entertainment bit *insert heart eyes*
