As a South Florida family photographer, one of my favorite things to hear when connecting with inquiring clients is that they want to document their child on the last stages of being a baby. You know… when they’re just weeks shy of turning one, of officially becoming a toddler.
I know they’re some of the toughest years we can face as parents but they’re also incredibly fleeting. One of my biggest regrets as a mother was not documenting these early years enough
And I know what you’re probably thinking right now. “But Maria, you’re a photographer! what do you mean you didn’t document this enough?”
Trust me, I just didn’t. I let those precious images of my only child live in the digital universe and things just get lost when you change phones, change computers, live out of “the cloud”, y’know?
When this beautiful mama reached out to me wanting to have family photos done before her baby girl turned one, I immediately knew where she was coming from especially when she expressed she wanted more than just a pretty photo, she wanted to showcase her baby’s personality.
How gentle, playful, and curious she is and of course, her charming charisma!
I have to be honest, I kept gasping and giggling during this session because I was definitely charmed by her.
Part of my booking process involves getting on a Zoom call before our time working together. This is where we go over the family dynamics and everyone’s personalities, special talents, likes/dislikes, etc. If you’re a mom to young baby, this is where I like to find out if you are nursing and if you are comfortable with me documenting a breastfeeding moment during our session.
