As a South East Florida family photographer, my approach to family sessions is very candid, playful, and natural. I don’t like telling kids
to pose and trust me, they don’t like it either! it just doesn’t allow for their personalities to shine. Instead, I try to guide them on a game to play,
a scene to imagine, “give mom a bear hug!”, “smell daddy’s nose”… this is my formula.
This travel session was one of those for me. Being able to connect and create with this fun family in South Oregon was a gift I will forever
be grateful for. Being able to give families tangible memories of a special trip or specific stage of their children’s lives is absolutely never lost on me.
“We’ll seek and return and stay to find beauty and the extraordinary
in all the spaces we can claim. We’ll know how to live. How to breathe magic
into the mundane.” – Victoria Erickson
One of the things I always talk about with parents about a location for their family photo session with me is that it has to be
a place we can interact with, first and foremost. Children want to play and when we give them room to do just that,
that’s where those magical images are created.
I look for trees they can climb, space where they can run, foliage they can touch, smell, and hide behind, sand that they can
build tiny castles with and then toss in the air like magic dust,
shells they can collect as a souvenir to take back home. Parents, take notes, children absolutely love being given something to do
but not being told to do that something, yknow?
With holiday season approaching, I figured I would use this space as a reminder that I’m only taking a very limited
amount of family sessions per month so I can best serve all my clients. The best and fastest way to reach out to me is by
filling out my contact form
After that, I’ll be in touch with you within 24 and 48 hours.
As you can see, family photos don’t have to be so painful or over the top when it comes to wardrobe choices for the whole fam!
